There was a lot of tension in this book.īetween Harriet Vane and the other characters and between Harriet and herself. I love the professors, their banter and quibbling about minor technicalities is hilarious.Īnother aspect I really loved is how Sayers wrestles with the struggle of brains vs heart. The mystery itself was alright, what really shines in this book is the dialogue and relationships between the different characters. She reunites with old classmates and professors, meets new ones and matches wits with women of intellect. All this takes place while Harriet attempts to solve a mystery at Oxford. ![]() The truth versus kindness, justice versus mercy, etc. What happens next, do they ever end up together? How do they end up together? Last but not least, this novel also tells the story of the mind versus the heart. This is the second to last book in the Lord Peter Wimsey series, and it basically tells the story about Harriet and Peter’s relationship. ‘What are you to do with the people who are cursed with both hearts and brains?’ ![]()
